Network Applications Engineer I - Nebraska Public Power District, Doniphan, NE, May 17, 2004 - August 31, 2008
Operate and Maintain Energy Management System (EMS) of the real time transmission system control network applications of the bulk electric System of Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) and its interconnected regional bulk electric network buses. Use the EMS’ State Estimation (SE) to estimate the state of the electric system and its applications in transmission and generation to estimate an overall reliability operation of the electric system as required by North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC). Design and analyze the Contingency Analysis by using State Estimator (SE) to produce the Security Analysis (SA) results of the Real Time Contingency Analysis (RTCA) of the network. The Real Time Contingency Analysis (RTCA) is used to monitor closely the conditions at Nuclear plant and adjacent substations as well as analyze load flows on transmission lines and generators. Use optimal power flow analysis of the Off line network model to study and analyze outages and new data model prior to importing to the real time system applications. Upgraded the Transmission Network Applications (TNA) to current EMS version-Spectrum PowerCC 3.7.3 Version during the EMS project upgrade and currently upgrading to PowerCC 3.9.3+.
Utilize Operator Training Simulation (OTS) to design and run power outages scenarios drills. Design and fine tune OTS applications for regional and Internal Drill Scenarios that are use to simulate different power outages such as losing major transmission lines, generation and load during bad weather or forced outages.
Used PSS/E to design and simulate Network Model to create an equivalent electrical network model for NPPD’s EMS Upgrade to PowerCC 3.9.3+ from an overall Eastern Interconnection bulk power electrical network model. The equivalent electrical network model will be amalgamated to current NPPD’s TNA version for better reliability applications. The model will be integrated as the actual real time model for the next TNA version at the end of the EMS upgrade Project.
