TO: First Lt. General Salva Kiir Mayardit, the Chairman of the SPLM, the First Vic-President of Republic of Sudan, and the President of the Government of Southern Sudan.
Your Excellency: The Sons and daughters of Nasir County in Diaspora would like to inform your Excellency that the group who called themselves Nasir County Citizens in Diaspora is not mandated by the people of Nasir at the grass root level to write this petition. Some of them deserted the struggle since inception of the movement in 1983. They totally know nothings about what is happening on ground at this moment. They were living in luxuries in Western countries during the war of liberation while people like Major- General Gathoth Gatkuoth Hothnyang and his colleagues were sacrificing themselves to liberate the marginalized people of Sudan. First of all, the anonymous group claimed that Major-General Gathoth Gatkuoth has no accomplishments in Nasir County since the signing of CPA in 2005. In reality, no sound minded individuals who live in Nasir today can deny all the essential social services that Major-General Gathoth Gatkuoth has delivered to people of Nasir since the CPA was inked on January 9, 2005 in Nairobi, Kenya. For instance, Nasir County is the only county in the South that has the telecommunication Network through all its Payams. Major-General Gathoth Gatkuoth has achieved substantial progress in Education, Commucapacinity ty building, health care, and security. We, the sons and daughters of Nasir County are now enjoying the communication with our families, relatives, and friends whom we missed for many years. It is our great dismay to learn that this narrow mindset group has questioned your administration about recent reshuffling. It seems to us that the group does not know the literal meaning of reshuffling. Secondly, on the day he was appointed as Commissioner of Nasir County, Major-General Gathoth Gatkuoth Hothnyang never rest. He always cares for his people day and night. He is a strong leader who has an unusual ability to understand the power of technology, development, and innovation. He entrusted his subordinates with much of the day- to-day operation while he focused on improving the living condition of the ordinary citizens and his county financial health. Therefore, the allegations that he allowed chiefs to keep taxes and local revenues for themselves to keep him in power are merely lie. The so-called Nasir county Citizens in Diaspora do not know that local revenues are raised to be utilized for local development. Thirdly, this irresponsible and unstable group also lied to you without shame that Major-General Gathoth Gatkuoth has confiscated lands belong to some county’s residents. This is also another white lie. What happened in the city of Nasir was the survey carried out by the Upper Nile State Authority. This is a part of development programs to make County headquarters a modern city. In short, all the accusations which are labeled against Nasir Commissioner are null and void. Finally, it is our great pleasure to express our gratitude to your effective leadership for maintaining Major-General Gathoth Gatkuoth in his position as commissioner of Nasir County. The people of Nasir County will continue to support your leadership and its efforts to ensure peace, security, and development for the people of marginalized areas of Sudan. Major-General, Gathoth Gatkuoth is the right man in the right place at the right time. Therefore, your decision to keep him in his position is appreciated in all aspects. Your sincerely, Sons and daughters of Nasir County in Diaspora
