GOSS Condemns the killing in Luak-Piny County, Upper Nile The Government of Southern Sudan is disturbed and regrets to learn the recent lost of innocents’ lives in (Torkech) Luak-Piny County, Upper Nile. This barbaric and vicious attack on innocent civilians deserves the condemnation of every community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those killed and wounded not only recently, but the series attacks occurred in various communities in different states in Southern Sudan. From LRA attack in Eastern Equatoria, to the recurrence of cattle raids that resulted in killing of innocents’ lives in Jonglie, Lakes, Warrap, Unity States, and Upper Nile, preventing these incidents is the government of Southern Sudan’s priority. The government condemns such an abominable act to the strongest term and ordered on the army and security organs to immediately restore law and orders in affected areas. The avowal entails after the security meeting Saturday where recent reports about Bari and Mundari scrimmages near Juba, and the killing in Luak-Piny County were detailed. According to Luak-Piny/Nasir Commissioner, his account of those killed reports that, 13 are children, 31 women, and 4 men all lost their lives during the 3am attack on May 7 2009 at Torkech. Among those injured, 18 are children, 23 women, and 10 men given the total of wounded people to 51. A clear, decisive and uncompromising stand is necessary against those committing these crimes in all communities across Southern Sudan. Miyong G.
